SOUTH CAROLINA BBQ TENT REVIVAL PRESENTED BY JIM N’ NICKS AND THE SOUTHERN FOODWAYS ALLIANCE

Join Nick Pihakis and John Haire of Jim ‘N Nick’s Community Bar-B-Q for a South Carolina Barbecue Tent Revival. Rodney Scott of Scott’s Bar-B-Cue in Hemingway, South Carolina has become one of the most acclaimed pitmasters in America. Ricky Scott of Scott Family Farm and Barbecue, 20 miles away in Kinsgtree, cooks whole hogs over hardwood in cinderblock pits, too. He too hews to the old ways and means. But he has not won the same measure of fame. Until now. Together, the Scotts will lead the faithful in a celebration of all things whole hog.
Also on the menu will be fried chicken, cooked in smoky lard, rendered from Rodney Scott’s pit-cooked pigs. That’s the way Ella Wilson, Rodney’s grandmother, fried her birds. And that’s the way you’ll eat them. Also on the bill are a barbecue film premier from the Southern Foodways Alliance, music from Jeff Mosier and the Fatback Collective Showband, dish surprises from Fatback Collective chefs, three finger pours of whiskey, and a toast from SFA director John T Edge. All proceedings will be presented in quadraphonic Smellavision.
