The Roots of BBQ Invitational is the evolution to a mini-fest from the Academy. The Black BBQ Hall of Fame is coming back.
Our founder Dr. Howard Conyers is inviting people to the community where he learned BBQ to showcase The Roots of BBQ from a point of visual, while also celebrating barbecue people with music played by some of Clarendon & Sumter Counties’ top DJs.
The Black BBQ Hall of Fame is coming back with Gumbo Jubilee Awards.
One more newcomer activity will be the Backyard Distillery Corridor of Fame will be launched.
Media will be recorded during the event. Security will be provided.
Dr. Conyers shared the following in a March 1, 2023, Facebook post about the event:
The opportunity to come to Paxville and see #TheRootsofBBQ Invitational with good food, drink, and music. The Black BBQ Hall of Fame is coming back, too. I even plan to cook this time.
In the meantime, the main event tickets are live. Only 250 tickets are available.
I am working on some reduced ticket prices for people in the immediate community, but it will be less than 50 available and it helps if you are a loyal customer of @backyarddistilleryllc.
We are also working on finalizing the details for an educational bus tour and lodging and a host hotel in Sumter, SC.
