SUMMARY:Pig on the Ridge (SCBA)
DESCRIPTION:SC's Finest\n\n\n\nPig on the Ridge is the largest barbecue cookout in the State and occurs the first weekend\, Friday and Saturday\, in November in the Town of Ridgeway. It is a time when over 3000 visitors and community volunteers come together to celebrate good food and fellowship. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFriday is " No Pigs Allowed" when cook teams fix anything but barbecue to sell. A street dance is held and craft vendors offer their products.Saturday is the day to buy barbecue. Whether you like vinegar based\, mustard based or ketchup based you will find it all at Pig on the Ridge as well as entertainment\, a classic car parade and a hog calling contest. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nProceeds from the event have been used to purchase fire equipment and signage for the Town\, restoration of Town Hall and help for the needy via churches in the community. \n\n\n\nHighlights\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe largest cook-off in South Carolina eight out of the last nine years\, Pig on the Ridge is a BBQ lovers paradise. \n\n\n\nHighlights include a street party along a closed section of Dogwood Drive\, a shag dance on Palmer Street\, children’s rides\, a hog-calling contest\, classic/antique car show and awards presentation. Vendors and craft booths will line the downtown streets. \n\n\n\n\nVisitors can also tour points of interest\, including the World’s Smallest Police Station and the historic Century House\, old Town Hall and former mercantile buildings now serving as offices\, shops\, restaurants and museums. Tickets for food on Friday night and Saturday can be purchased on site.  \n\n\n\n\nA Little History\n\n\n\nPig on the Ridge began in 1999 as part of the celebration of the 200th anniversary of the settlement of Ridgeway. DESCRIPTION:Historic Setting\n\n\n\nThe Battle of Camden BBQ Festival\, a barbeque contest to benefit the Camden Jaycees’ Annual Stocking Fund\, will take place at 222 Broad Street in Historic Camden\, South Carolina. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe event will include a Chicken Wing Competition on Friday Night\, barbeque from some of the finest BBQ Competitors in the Southeast on Saturday\, delicious food and drink from local vendors\, and live music on both days. \n\n\n\nThere will also be a Mac ‘N’ Cheese competition featuring local restaurants and vendors with the winner decided by the general public and carrying home the Golden Noodle trophy! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBBQ tastings will be served hot off the smokers Saturday morning. SUMMARY:SBN Invitational Barbecue Championship
DESCRIPTION:The Berkeley Lions Club has joined forces with the City of Moncks Corner to bring the SBN Invitational Barbecue Championship back to Moncks Corner. \n\n\n\nThe SBN Championship will be by invitation.  It will be a  Best of the Best in South Carolina Style contest.   \n\n\n\nThe Grand Champion from each of our contests for the period of one year will be invited to compete in Moncks Corner for a $7500 prize package. \n\n\n\nFriday:\n\n\n\nThe Moncks Corner Rice Ruckus - A contest that must feature one of South Carolina's earliest cash crops - Rice!  Make us your best rice dish.  No limits\, no restrictions.   \n\n\n\nThe only thing we ask is that the dish feature rice.  This contest will be a people's choice judging.  Please make enough for 200 samples. \n\n\n\nKids Que -  The Burger will again be the star in this highly successful event.  Kids\, 6 - 16 years old\, under the supervision of a participating cook team or parent will be grilling their best burgers.   \n\n\n\nWe had a great time with this event at the Commissioners Cup and we are expecting another great judging experience at the SBN Championship.  Click here for Kids Que Rules.   \n\n\n\nSaturday:\n\n\n\nThe Championship will be determined by a sum of the best scores in 3 meat categories.  Saturday will also feature a Brisket throwdown and a Sweet Pie throwdown.   \n\n\n\nPork Butts\, Chicken\, and Ribs.  Cooks will be required to bring their own ribs and chicken.  Turn-in time will be as follows. \n\n\n\n\n9 AM Pork\n\n\n\n10 AM Chicken\n\n\n\n11 AM Ribs\n\n\n\n\nThere will be a brisket throwdown at Noon. \n\n\n\nThere are 15 available slots.  Qualifying teams will be contacted by the SBN.  \n\n\n\nThe slots will be determined by inviting the Grand Champions of SBN Contests for the period of 1 year prior to the contest date.  If a team has multiple wins\, we will pass the invitation down to Reserve Champion\, etc. until each contest is represented.   \n\n\n\nThe remaining slots will be filled by inviting the top teams in the points race until all 15 slots are filled. \n\n\n\nThis is going to be an exciting contest.  We are looking forward to a weekend of cooking challenges and fun in Moncks Corner. \n\n\n\nThe throwdowns will be handled in the usual manner.  We will register all of the teams interested in participating after the cook's meeting.​The cost to enter the Brisket Throwdown will be $25 cash with a 70/30 split between first and second place.  The Lions Club will also provide a tangible prize like a trophy or ribbon. \n\n\n\nWhat You Need to Know:\n\n\n\n\n\nLocation\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBest Places to Stay (and more)\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWeather Forecast\n\n\n\nMONCKS CORNER WEATHER
