Greenwood Smoke & Sear brings the National Barbecue & Grilling Association’s Live Fire Experience to Uptown Greenwood for an event built around competition cooking and public tasting. Attendees can watch teams cook over live fire, sample food, meet the cooks, and follow several different contests during the event.
Live Fire Competition and Public Tasting
The main attraction is NBBQA’s live-fire team competition. Instead of cooking away from the crowd, teams prepare their entries in an event designed to give the public a closer look at the cooking and more opportunities to interact with the people behind the pits.
Greenwood Smoke & Sear also includes a sanctioned rib cook-off and People’s Choice tasting contests. Some entries are judged under competition rules, while others give ticket holders a chance to taste and cast their own votes.
Part of the NBBQA Live Fire Experience
Greenwood is one of the stops in NBBQA’s Live Fire Experience series, which combines public events with a qualifying path toward the association’s national live-fire championship. That gives the competition more at stake than a typical festival cook-off while still keeping the event open to people who simply want to watch, taste, and spend time around the teams.
Tickets are sold for Friday, Saturday, or both days, with separate VIP experiences also available. Regular admission includes public sampling opportunities, while some dinners, classes, and other special experiences require their own tickets. Check the official event site for current prices, availability, and the latest schedule before attending.
Admission: $65
