May 16 All day
Darlington Raceway’s Speed & Feed BBQ Festival blends two South Carolina favorites in one place: championship barbecue and car culture, all set against the backdrop of “The Track Too Tough To Tame.”
The festival returned after a multi-year break and is built as a full-day outing with a sanctioned BBQ contest, a judged car show, vendors, and plenty for families to do.
What to expect
Visitors can plan on a lively, walk-around festival atmosphere with barbecue sampling, classic vehicles on display, and shopping from a mix of craft and merchandise vendors. Alongside the headline attractions, organizers have also featured automotive swap-meet style vendors, kids activities and rides, plus food trucks and refreshments.
Festival-goers can purchase BBQ Bucks ($1 each or 12 for $10) to sample and vote in the People’s Choice tasting. A minimum of 10 BBQ Bucks is required to receive a ballot. Premium parking options in the infield will be available
KCBS-sanctioned BBQ competition
Speed & Feed includes a Kansas City Barbeque Society (KCBS) sanctioned cook-off that draws teams from inside and outside the region. The contest follows four core categories: chicken, pork ribs, pork, and brisket, with points building toward an overall Grand Champion.
People’s Choice tasting
In addition to the judged competition, the festival has offered a People’s Choice tasting where attendees sample entries and vote using “BBQ Bucks.” A minimum number of BBQ Bucks is required to receive a ballot.
Car show and awards
The on-site car show is a major part of the day, featuring an open field of vehicles competing for trophies and prizes. Awards have been presented across judged categories including Body & Paint, Interior, Engine Compartment, Trunk, and Tires/Wheels/Hubcaps, plus an overall Best in Show honor.
How to participate
Darlington Raceway coordinates interest and registration for BBQ teams, car show entrants, and vendors through the official event page.
