Attention BBQ lovers! The annual Pig in the Park Barbecue Festival and Cookoff is just around the corner, and it promises to be an event that you won’t want to miss.
As always, the festival will be held on both Friday and Saturday in Williamston’s Mineral Spring Park.
Friday’s activities kick off at 12 noon and run until 9 p.m. There will be plenty of delicious barbecue and food sales to sample from, as well as craft vendors and a children’s play area.
Saturday’s festivities begin at 10 a.m. and run until 6 p.m. You can expect more food sales, craft and sales vendors, a children’s play area, and live entertainment.
The judging of the BBQ competition will begin at 10 a.m., with the presentation of BBQ Championship Awards at 2:30 p.m.
For those looking to sample a little bit of everything, the Williamston Masonic Lodge will be selling wristbands for all-you-can-eat barbecue samples starting on Saturday morning.
For just $10, you can get a two-ounce sample of barbecue from each competitor at their location, and it will continue as long as the barbecue lasts.
But remember, no samples will be given out without a wristband.
What’s more, this is a charity event. Net proceeds support local community causes, often including organizations such as the Christian Learning Center, Operation Care, and the Williamston Masonic Lodge.
If you’re planning on attending the festival, be prepared for some mouth-watering BBQ and lots of fun.
Remember to check the forecast and dress appropriately, bring sunscreen and hats, and stay hydrated. And if you plan on staying overnight, be sure to book your accommodations in advance.
