Brisket has come to North Myrtle Beach. Finally, REAL TEXAS BBQ in South Carolina!

Jeff Vallancey calls his dream Brisket.

Born and raised in the small town of Greenville, Texas, Jeff and his wife Laney, who hails from West Virginia, settled in South Carolina but missed the BBQ of his home state.

So, they purchased a custom-made rotisserie BBQ pit that they had built in Texas and Brisket was born.

Weighing 4,200 pounds and holding 750 pounds of meat, Jeff smokes brisket and pork butts for 12-14 hours. He smokes his chicken, turkey, and ribs for 3-4 hours at a low temperature of only 200 F.

“Our meats are smoked in-house every day,” Jeff said.

In addition, a simple rub covers all their meats and they use no sauce during the smoking process.

“We don’t want to cover up the taste of the meat and smoke. BBQ is a process of time and smoke. It cannot be rushed. It’s a labor of love!” said Laney.

Now, Texas-style demands a dry rub, but they do offer a total of four different sauces. They make each of them in-house.

“Our sides and desserts are southern county recipes of Laney’s made in-house from scratch,” Jeff said.

Shane, their son, works as Brisket’s operations manager. “He works with the kitchen staff to come up with our daily specials along with bartending or greeting customers at the door,” Laney said.

What’s on the Menu?

On the menu, Brisket offers the following:

  • Brisket
  • Pulled Pork
  • Chicken
  • Ribs
  • Sausage
  • Frito Pie
  • Salmon
  • Steaks…and much more

So, how about hash, a South Carolina BBQ original? Brisket sells Texas-style BBQ. No hash here, but lots of other great sides like coleslaw, baked beans, collards greens, hush puppies, and more.

In addition, Brisket boasts a full 1800s-style western bar. They serve top-shelf Bourbons and a wide selection of regional craft beers. Check out their daily happy hour specials. Happy Hour is from 4-7 every day!

Finally, if you’re looking for take-out, they can help. Brisket will do all the cooking for you! Call and order your meats by the pound along with your starters and sides. Don’t forget the Pecan Pie for dessert!

What Folks are Saying about Brisket

On Google

Google’s Local Guide Brent Fugett found Brisket worth revisiting in a recent Google Review.

What place has the audacity to name itself after arguably the king of the BBQ cut?

Brisket that’s who, and it backs it up in spades. I can’t say enough about this place. For instance, the smoked meat was totally legit, beans were awesome, and the collards would make my grandma proud.

However, the cherry on top is meeting “Big D” out back. He said he made the collards which made my wife’s day. When we get back to North Myrtle, this is our first stop.

** Update ** A year later and we’re back, and Brisket is better than ever. It totally made up for the dinner trainwreck from last night at another place. This is a must-stop for us.

On Yelp

Meanwhile, Lindsey B, visiting from West Virginia, loved Brisket so much she wrote a novel of a Yelp Review:

First, we were hesitant to come here because while the reviews weren’t terrible they weren’t filled with reviews with people that had over-average experiences.

Out of all the places we have eaten at this week that came highly recommended (Carolina steakhouse…Benjamin’s…etc) THIS place was the best. Hands down.

We were greeted by Kim and were seated immediately with our menus to look it over while she grabbed our drinks. She quickly came back and asked if we had been there and if we had any questions.

After that, she went over the menu with us a little, speaking very passionately about how great she thought the food was. In short, she sold us.

I got the brisket (sliced instead of chopped- thanks for the recommendation Kim!) and the Mac and cheese. My husband got the two meat and one side plate.

He got the kielbasa and pulled pork and as his side, he got the hush puppies with honey butter. Both meals were fantastic!

I saw a lot of mixed reviews about the Mac and cheese and no, it isn’t your typical noodles with yellow cheese dumped on it. This was homemade cheese sauce that was definitely different from anything I’ve had and I absolutely loved it.

Finally, we were out of there for less than $40. We will for sure be back! Thanks, Kim for the great service!
