Back in 2004 retired educators Furman and Carol Mauldin decided to follow their passion for cooking delicious barbecue and opened a humble take-out spot in their hometown of Greenwood, South Carolina.

Open just three days a week, and located off the beaten path, the “Shack” quickly became THE place to get pulled pork, ribs, chicken, and hash.

All these years later, the Shack has grown by leaps and bounds!

Still located off the beaten path (behind the Market Place Shopping Center), the Shack now offers an air-conditioned dining room, an expanded menu, and full-service catering.

What’s our secret?

All of our meat is smoked or grilled right here in our on-site barbecue pit, and our sides are made in-house daily. We even offer four different homemade sauces to satisfy any level of heat you’d like!

And at the Shack, we only use the best ingredients around!
