On The Run BBQ

Greenwood BBQ with Brisket, Ribs, Pulled Pork, and Hash

According to the Old 96 District BBQ Trail, revised by Anna Cook, On The Run BBQ serves “all the BBQ staples like brisket, ribs, and pulled pork.”

That short description gets to the heart of Shawn Wright’s Greenwood restaurant. On The Run BBQ has the range of a neighborhood comfort-food stop, but brisket, ribs, pulled pork, smoked chicken, and hash give the place its barbecue identity.

That makes it a practical choice for mixed groups. Barbecue fans can build a plate around smoked meats and sides, while the rest of the table can branch out into wings, burgers, fish, baked potatoes, or sandwiches.

Brisket, Ribs, Pulled Pork, and Hash

On The Run BBQ gives diners several ways to get into the smoked meats. Brisket, ribs, pulled pork, and smoked chicken show up as dinner plates, while brisket and pulled pork also appear in sandwiches and other menu items.

The menu also includes hash, both as a plate option and by the quart. On the Run BBQ serves a beef and pork based hash.

Brisket gets particular attention from some diners. Google reviewer jm lindley writes, “Great variety of smoked meats. I had the trio plate with buffalo wings, pulled pork and brisket. All were really good especially the brisket.”

Pulled Pork Across the Menu

Pulled pork is one of the most flexible items at On The Run BBQ. You can find it as a plate, sandwich, slider, nacho topping, or part of the trio platter.

That range makes the restaurant feel less like a one-note BBQ stop and more like a casual neighborhood place built around smoked meat. It also gives diners plenty of room to choose between a full plate and something more snackable.

Google reviewer Tracy Thomas singled out the pork, writing, “pulled pork was so flavorful even without sauce and I'm picky about my pork.”

Starters with BBQ Personality

On The Run BBQ’s starters give the menu some character beyond the usual plate-and-sides setup.

The brisket egg rolls are one of the more distinctive items, pairing smoked beef with a crisp handheld format. Pulled pork sliders and BBQ nachos keep the smoked-meat theme going, while pork skins, wings, and spinach dip round out the appetizer side of the menu.

The trio platter is another smart choice for anyone who wants variety. Depending on availability, diners can choose from items like egg rolls, wings, ribs, pulled pork, and brisket.

More Than BBQ

While barbecue is a major part of the identity here, On The Run BBQ also serves a wide range of Southern comfort food and casual American favorites.

The menu includes burgers, hot dogs, wings, chicken strips, loaded baked potatoes, fish, pork chop, Philly chicken, Philly steak, and salads. That makes it a practical pick for families or groups where not everyone wants the same kind of plate.

Fish is part of the regular menu, too, with options such as whiting, tilapia, flounder, catfish, and croaker appearing in sandwich or plate form.

Sides and Sauces

The sides stay in familiar BBQ territory: mac and cheese, baked beans, fried okra, potato salad, green beans, collard greens, coleslaw, fries, and corn.

The restaurant serves two sauce styles available: a mustard-based sauce and a heavier tomato-based sauce. That gives diners a choice between South Carolina tang and a thicker, redder BBQ profile.

One Google reviewer noted that sauce came on the meat with his order, so diners who prefer sauce on the side may want to ask when ordering.

What Diners Seem to Like

Customer feedback points to smoked chicken, ribs, pulled pork nachos, brisket, mac and cheese, and baked beans as frequent favorites.

The restaurant’s Google review summary also highlights reasonable prices, generous portions, and friendly service. That fits the menu itself: plenty of food, familiar choices, and enough smoked meat to satisfy a BBQ craving.

Google reviewer hannah bright praised the ribs and sides, writing, “We ordered ribs and sides for take out and they were all SOOOOO good. 10/10.”

Best Fit for On The Run BBQ

On The Run BBQ is a good fit for diners who want smoked meats without being boxed into a narrow BBQ-only menu.

Brisket, ribs, pulled pork, smoked chicken, and hash give the restaurant its barbecue identity, while wings, burgers, fish, sandwiches, and sides make it easy for a mixed group to settle in and find something they want.

For Greenwood diners looking for BBQ with plenty of comfort-food backup, On The Run BBQ covers a lot of ground.

Google Review

Among the many Google Reviews, Local Guide Ernesto Owens and his family found a place to return to:

The family and I were going to go to a different BBQ restaurant but found out they were closed so my daughter found another BBQ restaurant on Google which ended up leading us here to " On The Run BBQ" restaurant.

We ordered the pulled pork nachos which were so good and a lot for an appetizer. I got the smoked chicken plate with collard greens and Mac and cheese and let me tell you it was delicious. The kids got the brisket plate and they loved it. My wife got the rib plate and she said it was good as well. We will go back next time we get a BBQ craving. Great food, great price for the amount of food you get.

Facebook Review

In a review on their Facebook page, nearby resident Danielle Smith shared her experience:

My husband and I went there today and I got the pulled pork with collard greens and mac n cheese, my husband got the ribs, mac n cheese, and green beans. Everything was good especially the meat. I really like that they drizzle both of their bbq sauces on the meat. Will for sure be going back and trying something else on the menu!

Love the book, can't thank the team and contributors enough. I've searched high and low for a book that captures the history of SC BBQ and offers hard to find recipes, especially Hash and BBQ sauce recipes.
