Sidebar is a part of the town's fabric. Located on Main St. in the center of downtown Sumter, SC, in a restored historic building, you'll find nostalgia and good service is what we believe in.
As they say – Good Food, Good Company,
What more can you ask for? And that is exactly what we strive to offer!
The true Texan-style smoked brisket stands out as the biggest seller on the menu. Tastes so good you won't need sauce.
So, we let people put on their own sauces. We serve your choice of mustard-, vinegar- and tomato-based.
Among the options on the menu, Sidebar serves brisket, ribs, chicken, and burgers. Sides include fries, baked beans, and slaw.
Google's Local Guide Benjamin Brown discusses Sidebar's pork and brisket and more in this Google Review.
I thoroughly enjoyed my beer and BBQ dinner here.
Decided to go big and get the full plate of BBQ goodness. The pork was done perfectly, and this is the best brisket I've had outside Texas.
Lots of beer and drink choices as well, and the vibe and decor are warm and friendly. It's usually a hopping place as well, full of people.
I also enjoyed a banana pudding for dessert
Yelp Review
Over on Yelp, Juli N and her fiancé are Sidebar veterans who have tried it all:
My fiancé and I have experienced every facet of Sidebar at this point, and after multiple dining experiences, we felt it necessary to write our first review!
Sidebar first and foremost offers a great cocktail beer and wine menu- they are also known for great bbq, but their menu is very American, and each and every dish is given care and attention to detail that no other restaurant in Sumter captures.
The soups of the day in the winter, the great craft cocktails of the day and the brunches on the weekend are killer!
We have fallen in love with taking our puppy to brunch on Saturday mornings, sitting outside to light smooth jazz, and nursing big mugs of coffee
Sidebar is a must for a relaxing cocktail hour at their long wood bar, but also a Saturday morning lazy brunch with mules and a beer and the dog.
Pet-friendly and great staff keep this at the top of our list!

When you think you know enough about BBQ in South Carolina, please read this book! It has more information, history and recipes than one could imagine! The history was fascinating, and the stories about the “pitmasters” were so interesting. I haven’t finished reading the whole book, but I skipped around to check out each section.… Read more "All that I didn’t know about BBQ!"
