At The Smokehouse BBQ & Grill in Scranton, we stand out as a BBQ restaurant that keeps the history and heritage of wood-fired BBQ alive.

We serve a half or a whole rack of ribs, genuine pulled pork Carolina BBQ, BBQ chicken, brisket, cheeseburgers, and hot dogs. More importantly, we cook on hickory and oak low and slow for your enjoyment.

Fixin’s include slaw, green beans, mac & cheese, sweet ‘tater casserole, and rice with red gravy. For dessert, you have to try our Nanner Puddin’.

South Carolina is the birthplace of barbecue. At The Smokehouse, we honor that heritage through our authentic approach to barbecue. We think you’ll appreciate it, too.

Come on by The Smokehouse BBQ & Grill and check out the new look of the restaurant and enjoy the aroma of the smoke from our pit. It produces some of the best BBQ around.

Larry Bryant was not at a loss for words when writing a Facebook Review about his experience at The Smokehouse BBQ & Grill shortly after it opened:

The dry rub ribs were a tender and deliciously smoked star of the show. The wet sauce was a perfect combination of sweet and subtle spice.

The side dishes(mac n cheese, sweet potato fries, and regular fries) were pretty basic…The sweet potato casserole was something I wanted to try but didn’t get it this go-round.

The corn nuggets tasted good, but dipping them in the bbq wet sauce took them to the next level.

The burger was a missed opportunity. Don’t get me wrong, It was delicious. No complaints about the flavor.

It was a lot of meat and had a nice outer char with a juicy center. The issue was that it was almost a ball of meat.

If not for that one thing that burger would have been at least a 4-star burger.

We’re Going Back!

We’re absolutely going back to The Smokehouse BBQ and Grill.

The brisket and bbq sandwich are something we want to try out. All the meats we had were delicious and I’d expect those to be no different.

The owner and family staff were great, very friendly, and welcoming.

The restaurant is small but cozy, it has a subtle charm we liked. The prices are reasonable too boot.

There’s no reason for anyone to miss out on some genuinely good food even if they have a few issues to work out in the sides, burger consistency, and buns departments. You don’t go to a bbq place for those reasons anyway and the stuff you do for (the meats) were delicious!

Yelp Review

Over on Yelp, Mike B from nearby Coward, SC, didn’t have as much to say about The Smokehouse, but his few words do say a lot:

If you’re craving wood-smoked BBQ The Smokehouse is the place. This is NOT your bland roasted pork in the oven but it is traditional low & slow pink smoke ring BBQ.

The owner/pitmaster takes pride in what he puts on the plates and it shows. In short, good food, good service, and good prices. Firefighter owned.
