Barbecue Built Around Fellowship

“We like to believe we are in the people business serving food.”

That is how owner Scott King explains Faith & Fork, an Anderson barbecue restaurant with an origin story unlike most. Judah Church bought the restaurant for a fellowship hall and additional parking, but King, the church’s pastor, saw a chance to make that fellowship happen on a much wider scale.

“Little did we know that the term fellowship hall would take a turn,” King told Destination BBQ. “It is, but on a much bigger scale.”

King wanted to create a place “where strangers become friends and then family.” Faith & Fork’s Facebook page describes the result as a restaurant where “bold flavors” and “warm hospitality” make every visit “feel like home.”

Pulled pork starts with pork butts and is hand-pulled, while the smoked-meat lineup also includes sliced brisket, St. Louis-style ribs, burnt ends, barbecued chicken, and pulled chicken.

The Sampler Platter offers a useful introduction for first-time guests, bringing brisket, pulled pork, and pulled chicken together with a choice of five homestyle sides. Individual barbecue trays let diners focus on a single meat, while the menu’s range makes it easy for a table to mix brisket, pork, and chicken.

Faith & Fork also keeps barbecue nachos and BBQ egg rolls in the rotation. The nachos have appeared with brisket, pulled pork, or pulled chicken, while the egg rolls offer another way to work smoked meat into a shareable starter or lunch special.

Sandwiches, Loaded Potatoes, and Brunswick Stew

The Pit Boss Brisket Sandwich puts thick-cut, slow-smoked sliced brisket on a toasted bun. The Hog Stack Sandwich goes with pulled pork, while the Yardbird Sandwich features pulled chicken.

Faith & Fork also does more with smoked meat than simply put it on a plate. Smokehouse Potatoes begin with a large baked potato and add a choice of smoked meat, butter, cheddar, sour cream, and green onions.

The Revival Potatoes take things further, loading the potato with both pulled pork and brisket. Backyard Brunswick Stew brings together meats, fresh vegetables, house seasonings, and toast for a hearty option alongside the barbecue.

Homestyle Sides and House-Made Sauces

The side lineup includes fried okra, baked beans, fries, sweet potato crunch, green beans, cole slaw, mac and cheese, cream corn, and banana pudding. The Veggie Plate allows diners to choose any four sides, and King says several sides are vegan-friendly.

All sauces are made in house. Carolina White is mayonnaise-based, Holy Gold is mustard-based, Luke Warm is described as traditional, and Bishop’s BBQ brings a sweet-and-tangy finish.

That gives diners several ways to take their barbecue, whether they want mustard with pork, a creamy white sauce with chicken, or a familiar sweet-and-tangy barbecue profile.

Food with a Mission

“Faith & Fork is more than just a name, it is a mission,” King says.

A portion of the restaurant’s proceeds is reinvested into ministry efforts serving Judah Church and the surrounding community. Faith & Fork also provides employment for approximately 20 to 25 people.

“Every meal is an opportunity to encourage someone, build relationships, and remind people that they are valued and loved,” King says. That outlook is central to the restaurant, not an afterthought added to the menu.

Faith & Fork brings pulled pork, brisket, ribs, chicken, loaded potatoes, Brunswick stew, and a broad selection of sides to Anderson. More than that, it offers a table intended to make room for people as much as for plates.

Visited Faith And Fork for Grand Opening and ordered the Sampler Platter, which came with brisket, pulled pork and pulled chicken. Brisket had a very nice smoke ring around the edges with a nice bark that tasted amazing!! Pulled pork and chicken were also very good.

As far as the side dishes go, it came with 5 sides of your choosing. I ordered fries, Mac and cheese, baked beans, coleslaw and banana pudding. Good portions and that Mac and cheese was on point for sure!! Coleslaw and fries were great as well and that banana pudding was amazing!! Definitely will be back soon!! I highly recommend visiting Faith And Fork!!

First time try...Amazing BBQ. The building is gorgeous. It has been redone and is beautiful inside. I had the smoked brisket sandwich and fried okra. The brisket was very smoky and tender with a large portion for a sandwich. The okra was freshly cooked and was hot.

They have five different sauces and I believe the hot is my favorite. They had a mustard base, tangy, white, hot, and something else I can't remember. The service was impeccable. Very glad to have them in Anderson. Highly recommend.

TOOK A LOT OF HARD WORK

What I liked most about the cookbook was the bbq sauces - this took a lot of hard work. It's worth the money. Buy the cookbook, you won't find one any better. I have tried a couple of the sauces - they were real good!
