BBQ Sandwich

We slowly smoke with Hickory and Oak for real flavor. The shrimp comes right off the docks here at Shem Creek.

We bake our breads fresh daily. Our burgers are certified Angus beef, ground in-house.

We make our own sauces from scratch along with our dressings, jams, and Pimento cheese. We even serve the best local grits, Geechie Boy.

What Folks are Saying

Google Review

Among the many Google Reviews, Local Guide Brian Keith got in quickly and enjoyed his meal with his family:

Very friendly staff. Did not have to wait to sit. Was able to sit near the water and watched the boats, even saw a dolphin.

The fried green tomatoes were delicious. They were crunchy with a lot of flavor and were prepared on top of a cheese composite.

The three meats ribs tender with smoke flavor, brisket had right amount of char and seasoning and pulled pork was very flavorful. Shrimp and grits wife said they were amazing.

They even made our son a side of shrimp. Sweet tea was fantastic.

Great place to eat.

Yelp Review

Over on Yelp, Michael E. on Yelp certainly tasted the difference. He wrote the following in his review:

Saltwater Cowboys: when wanting to venture over the Ravenel bridge from Charleston proper for a dining experience to enjoy a bit of barbecue or seafood on the water then Shem Creek’s own Saltwater Cowboys should not be missed.

From the incredible number of individually heated tables on the back deck to the awesome indoor views of the upper Shem Creek, Saltwater Cowboys offers swell views any time of the year.

Ambiance, service, and a very eclectic choice of cuisine promises a good time can be had by anyone taking the time to venture out of Charleston.

The grouper fingers and fried shrimp with sides of coleslaw and red rice with a pint of dark ale for lunch fuels the adventures of the day without breaking the bank.

“If looking for a restaurant that offers choices for everyone from Burgers to barbecue to seafood, this is the place.

If oysters are what you love,  every Thursday from 6 to 9 all you can eat oyster roast on the deck. For 20 clams, it offers great food awesome views and sweet savings.”
