At Buttermilk’s, we slow-smoke our barbecue for hours to produce the best flavors. That is to say, we take the time to do things right.

“One of the things that makes our restaurant special is our pit-smoked barbecue. This is not done much anymore. We’re doing all wood, with oak, no charcoal or gas,” said Rob Brown.

“And we care about what we do,” added Jane Brown. Brown also works as a pitmaster at Buttermilk’s. In fact, she handles the BBQ duties when Rob is not available.

“We want to put out a great product, so we take pride in everything we do,” Jane said.

This level of dedication to doing things right influences everything we do at Buttermilk’s BBQ. Our commitment extends well beyond the pit-cooked meat.

“Everything we make, it’s like you went to your grandma’s house to eat…or you’re at your own backyard cookout,” Rob said.

What Folks are Saying about Buttermilk’s BBQ

Google Review

Among the many Google Reviews, Local Guide Kurt Hovis found one problem…he didn’t order enough.

Love this place.

A local guy I know mentioned it on his Facebook and I love Bar BQ so I had to check it out. Great food.

One week later wife and I went by to get the best Bar B Que around plus some more of that perfect mac n cheese and this time we got a half rack of ribs…one problem..I should have got a whole rack.

MAN love the flavor that hit my mouth on first bite and so perfectly tender.. Next time whole rack! Great people too.

Yelp Review

Over on Yelp, Mack T. took a chance and found somewhere worth returning:

My wife and I were camping at Chester State Park and found Buttermilk’s BBQ in Chester. It is very good food.

I got the brisket plate with mac&cheese & potato salad. The brisket was tender with the right  amount of smoke and both sides worthy of a place on the plate.

Beth tried the pulled pork with fried cabbage & mashed potatoes with the same results. She also had a bun to make a sandwich with.

The quantity of both meals was enough to have for supper. Will definitely stop by next time we’re anywhere close to Chester. PS-they included a brownie!
