In the heart of South Carolina’s barbecue scene, Sticky Fingers Ribhouse stands out as a testament to the enduring appeal of authentic Southern BBQ. Founded in 1992 by three high school friends who brought their passion for Memphis-style barbecue from Tennessee to Charleston, Sticky Fingers has grown from a single location to a beloved chain across the Southeast.

“It all started in 1992 with three high school friends, Walldorf, Jeff Goldstein and Todd Eischeid, who all moved from Tennessee to Charleston to open a rib restaurant they named Sticky Fingers,” reports the Post and Courier.

Back to the Roots

Marking its 25th anniversary, Sticky Fingers Ribhouse celebrated by recommitting to the original flavors and ethos that made it a cornerstone of the barbecue community.

With one of the founders, Chad Walldorf, back steering the ship, the restaurant signaled a return to its roots. The Post and Courier highlights this homecoming, noting the founders’ intent to “return the restaurants to their glory days.”

What Folks Are Saying

Google Review

Among the many Google Reviews, reviewer Barbara Smith shared her takeout experience with Sticky Fingers in Cane Bay:

We ordered carryout from our local Cane Bay location in Summerville, SC. This was our first time and we were very happy with the food. We got a family meal, a salad and 2 sandwiches.

Everything was delicious and bountiful. We will have enough leftovers for another meal. We tried the original Carolina BBQ sauce and it did not disappoint. The food was being packed up when we arrived – nice and hot. We ordered online and that went smoothly, as well.

Yelp Review

Over on Yelp, Summerville resident Justin P went on opening night and came back for more later at Sticky Fingers in Cane Bay:

To be fair we went the first night Sticky Fingers opened to the public in the Cane Bay / Nexton location. Sure there were some minor issues but that is to be expected on day one. Learn from it and move forward. I’ve since been back and still believe the service and food were both good.

I’m a sucker for wings and tried one of the smoked wings my wife ordered. To be honest i should have ordered those over the pork bbq plate. Don’t get me wrong, the pork was good also but the wings were on another level.

The food turn around was rather quick, obviously everything was prepared in advanced and just plated to be brought out. I feel the pork was a little dry due to this and had to saturate in sauce but it was ok.

I also opted for the collard greens which were good and had two helpings of cornbread. I prefer my corn bread a little more moist and sweet, this broke apart pretty easily but did have good flavor. It would be good corn bread to break up and add into a chili when the weather starts to get cold.

Standard tables in the back and booths up front offer seating options to choose from. The decorations were not over spectacular and they got the job done.  I definitely feel you get what you pay for and appreciate the prices were not out of line like a lot of other restaurants at this time.

Save me a platter of wings y’all, i’ll be in soon!
