In the heart of South Carolina’s barbecue scene, Sticky Fingers Ribhouse stands out as a testament to the enduring appeal of authentic Southern BBQ. Founded in 1992 by three high school friends who brought their passion for Memphis-style barbecue from Tennessee to Charleston, Sticky Fingers has grown from a single location to a beloved chain across the Southeast.

“It all started in 1992 with three high school friends, Walldorf, Jeff Goldstein and Todd Eischeid, who all moved from Tennessee to Charleston to open a rib restaurant they named Sticky Fingers,” reports the Post and Courier.

Back to the Roots

Marking its 25th anniversary, Sticky Fingers Ribhouse celebrated by recommitting to the original flavors and ethos that made it a cornerstone of the barbecue community.

With one of the founders, Chad Walldorf, back steering the ship, the restaurant signaled a return to its roots. The Post and Courier highlights this homecoming, noting the founders’ intent to “return the restaurants to their glory days.”

What Folks Are Saying

Google Review

Among the many Google Reviews, a reviewer who goes by the handle “JLEWahines” found a new number one at Sticky Fingers in Greenville:

This place has some of the best BBQ. I’ve been to a few different BBQ restaurants in South Carolina and so far this is my #1 spot.

We drove from Charleston, SC to stay the night in Greenville and we check this spot out and we’re pleasantly surprised.

The appetizers were seasoned perfectly and the smoked wings on point. The fried pickles, not greasy and the batter crispy.

Our main entrees were just as great. Chicken and pork so tender the sauce just the right amount with its smoky hints. Definitely a recommend!

Yelp Review

Over on Yelp, Carolynn T. may have shared a bit too much about her love of sauce:

This place was great! We were staying close by so we walked over to fill up on some ribs and were we in for a treat. We chose three rib flavors which came with cornbread and sides (we chose potato salad, hush puppies, and macaroni and cheese). The hush puppies were still frozen in the middle when we got them but the server quickly took them back and brought us a hot fresh order – they were delicious!

The potato salad is so addicting! A nice palate cleanser between ribs. The mac and cheese was nothing to write home about but we still finished it. Cornbread? Always good.

Let’s talk ribs. Now I am a sauce girl at heart. Dunk it, slather it, pour it all over me. But when I tell you that the seasoning rub on the dry rib was the BEST flavor we got, you have to believe me. Some might say I’m from the PNW and don’t know barbecue, but when you have strong kick-you-in-your-mouth seasonings on fall-off-the-bone, tender, rib meat, there is no level of barbecue mastery that will deny that those were some good ribs.
