Looking for competition-quality BBQ? Fahrenheit 225 on Darlington’s Public Square the place for you.
Trey Calcutt’s passion for cooking barbecue eventually turned into a full-time business.
Calcutt, the owner of Fahrenheit 225, started competing in South Carolina Barbeque Association tournaments around seven years before he opened Fahrenheit 225 and has loved it ever since.

“About six or seven years ago, I started doing barbecue competitions for SCBA (South Carolina Barbecue Association), and I found a recipe that worked for me and that everybody liked.
“So I started doing a little catering for friends and family,” Calcutt said.
“It was something that I enjoyed. We found a recipe that worked and just went with it.”
“There’s one other barbecue restaurant here in Darlington,” Calcutt said. “I wanted to pick an area that didn’t have something like this and offer food and an atmosphere that people enjoy.”
And it is clear that there’s lots to enjoy at Fahrenheit 225 in Darlington. While the atmosphere is comfortable and the drinks are tasty, the main thing that keeps drawing people inside is the food.
What’s on the Menu
Fahrenheit 225 offers several meat dishes including pulled pork, brisket, spare ribs, and chicken. They serve each with a choice of two sides.
The restaurant also has several different sandwiches including barbecue, brisket grilled cheese, a kickin’ chicken sandwich, and chicken salad.
“The Platter” feeds four people and includes a full rack of ribs, your choice of another meat along with three sides.

“It’s some of the best barbecue you’ll try,” Calcutt said. “We’ve pretty much gone by word of mouth.
“We’re hoping that it will spread out and become somewhere that people really enjoy coming on the weeknights to get some great food and drinks.”
Wally B was clearly impressed, writing this on Yelp:
My wife had the grilled cheese brisket sandwich and I had the barbecue sandwich and both were amazing! We can’t wait to go back, so we can work our way down the menu.

If I could I would give Fahrenheit 225, five stars just for the barbecue and another five for the barbecue sauce. The sauce has just a little kick to it without taking away from the quality of the food.

Small town hidden gem!
I stopped in for lunch when in town for a race and found what everyone wants to find. Great food Brisket Grilled Cheese sandwich with Collard Greens, good Craft Beer with Space Dust IPA.
It was good enough I came back the following day for dinner.
Local Guide SCgirl 93 was equally impressed:

I had the pulled pork platter with baked beans and Mexican street corn, so delicious!!

The pork was tender and delicious, with just the perfect amount of sauce, such a perfect balance of flavors The sides were the perfect accompaniment to the pork, even though I couldn’t finish the tasty corn because I was so full.
Generous portions and a very comfortable atmosphere. The service is friendly and quick. Please give this place a try, you’ll go back for more if you do!”

What an exceptional piece of documented culinary South Carolina history. The effort and care taken to share its native recipes, many of which come from the more famous names regionally (even if by copycat on some, that can be understood) was mind-blowing. What impressed me more was the totality of recipes coming from parts of… Read more “Had High Expectations, They were Exceeded”
