In 2015, Mike and Nancy moved from Kansas City to Beaufort, South Carolina. After getting settled, Mike just knew the people of his new community would enjoy his wonderful Brunswick stew.
With this belief, KC Mike’s Smokin’ was born.
They were content selling their Brunswick stew to their neighbors in the Lowcountry, but that wasn’t the end of the story.
Their customers began urging them to sell smoked meats, too. So KC Mike began to offer pulled pork, beef brisket, chicken, and baby back ribs. Their customers loved it and then asked KC Mike to sell them just a little lunch, too.
By this time KC Mike had opened his Maritime Center location at 310 Okatie Hwy, so he began to offer lunch. The business grew until their customers wanted more than their little smoker could provide.
Just after Christmas 2017, Mike and Nancy decided to open a restaurant location with a great big smoker.
On April 14, 2017, KC Mike’s Smokin’ Restaurant opened at 81 Sea Island Parkway on Lady’s Island with a smoker big enough to keep all their customers happy for a long time to come.
For now, the two locations are keeping them plenty busy, but stay tuned…the story will continue.
